What’s involved.
Commercial solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS) can develop safety issues, deteriorate in performance or cease operating without the owner being aware. EnharComm combines certified electrical engineering expertise with the practical experience of our in-house A-Grade electricians to assess the condition, safety, compliance and performance of existing energy assets.
Our audits provide an independent assessment of system health, identify opportunities to recover lost generation and storage performance, and establish a clear pathway for maintenance, rectification and ongoing asset management.
System condition, safety and compliance
- Conduct comprehensive on-site inspections of existing solar PV and BESS installations, assessing equipment condition, electrical safety, workmanship and compliance
- Inspect inverters, switchboards, protection systems, isolators, cabling, connectors, battery systems and associated electrical infrastructure
- Identify safety hazards, deterioration, installation defects and non-compliant components, prioritising issues according to risk
- Rectify minor faults where practical and safe to do so, while identifying major repairs, component replacements and potential warranty claims
System performance and operational assessment
- Benchmark actual solar generation against expected performance, considering system capacity, site conditions, historical generation and available performance data
- Review inverter monitoring portals, battery management systems and third-party monitoring platforms to assess system operation and identify underperformance
- Investigate potential causes of reduced generation, battery performance issues, equipment faults, system outages and unexplained operational losses
- Provide practical recommendations to improve system availability, energy yield, battery utilisation and ongoing operational performance
Asset registers and technical documentation
- Develop or update detailed asset registers for individual installations and multi-site portfolios, including equipment specifications, capacities, locations and key asset details
- Review existing electrical documentation, including single-line diagrams, site layouts, equipment schedules and available commissioning records
- Identify missing, outdated or inaccurate documentation that may affect maintenance, compliance, troubleshooting or future upgrades
- Prepare electrical single-line diagrams and site layout drawings where required to improve asset visibility and support ongoing system management
Audit reporting and remedial recommendations
- Provide clear, colour-coded audit reports supported by photographs, documenting key safety, condition, compliance and performance findings
- Prioritise recommended actions according to safety risk, operational impact, potential energy losses and urgency
- Identify opportunities for immediate rectification, planned maintenance, equipment replacement and warranty recovery
- Establish a practical action plan to improve system safety, restore performance and support long-term asset reliability

How do I know if my solar system is underperforming?
We benchmark actual output against expected performance and weather data, review monitoring, and identify safety and compliance issues. Many older systems are underperforming or switched off.
Can you fix issues found in the audit?
Yes. Our SAA electricians rectify minor issues on site and manage major rectifications and warranty claims.
Do you audit large fleets?
Yes - we audit multi-site fleets and produce asset registers and drawings where as-built documentation is missing.
